U.S., Iran announce deal to end war, reopen Strait of Hormuz

U.S. and Iranian officials announced a deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the officials said.

They described the agreement as a major breakthrough in a conflict that set the Middle East aflame and shook the global economy, officials said.

Officials cautioned that the deal did not resolve several critical issues. Those matters were set aside for further negotiations, they said.
