UAE says Iran hit two tankers in Strait of Hormuz, killing one

The United Arab Emirates said Monday that Iranian forces struck two of its tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, killing one crew member, the UAE Ministry of Defence said on X.

The ministry said Iranian cruise missiles hit the Mombasa and the Al Bahiyah as the vessels transited the southern lane of the strait.

The X post did not provide further details about the identity of the deceased crew member, the condition of other crew or the extent of damage to the ships.

The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway through which a significant share of the world’s oil shipments pass.
