Supporting your local fire department
Small-town fire departments like Middleton’s depend on community fundraisers to help with equipment, training and day-to-day needs that budgets don’t always cover. Ladies Auxiliary groups often run these events so firefighters can stay focused on calls.
A whole smoked Boston butt is also an easy option for holiday gatherings, tailgates and family dinners as November gets underway. Residents of Walnut and northern Tippah County who shop or work in Middleton can pick up plates on their way through town.
The sale is one of several community events on the Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce calendar for the coming weeks. Others include Business Trick or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Christmas at the Crossroads on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a Sip & Shop preview the evening before.
Fire departments across the region are working to raise money for equipment. Read how the Hornsby Fire Department landed $290,000 in grants.
