The Middleton Police Department has a new officer on patrol. Bryan Hill took the oath of office during a swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, at Middleton City Hall, adding another sworn officer to the small Hardeman County town just north of Walnut.
Police Chief A. Bowden presided over the ceremony, according to the Hatchie Press, which covers Hardeman County.
From Fitness Trainer to Middleton Police Officer
Hill comes to police work by an unusual route. Before he entered law enforcement, he spent more than 10 years as a fitness professional, and many of his clients were first responders, including police officers and SWAT operators. After years of helping others get ready for the job, he decided to do the job himself.
“Now I get to serve people and help keep them safe,” Hill said, as quoted by the Hatchie Press.
Hill recently graduated from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in Nashville, which trains new officers from departments across the state.
A Background in Service
Hill grew up in Florida, where his mother worked for the Center for Drug Free Living. He has volunteered through his church and in health and wellness roles, and he said he wants to keep Middleton “as safe and peaceful as possible.”
“One of the biggest things I am looking forward to in my new role is to continue the standard that has been set for me,” Hill said.
Off duty, Hill competes in bodybuilding and powerlifting and also plays golf and recreational softball.
Why It Matters for Middleton
Middleton is a small town on the Tennessee side of the state line, and many families on both sides of the Tippah County-Hardeman County border live, work, go to church, and shop there. In a small department, adding even one officer can make a real difference in patrol coverage and response times.
