Bill passes to create Mississippi lottery

The Mississippi senate passed a lottery bill late Thursday that will divert those new funds to state infrastructure for the foreseeable future.

The vote was 30-20 in the senate to allocate the windfall expected from a state lottery to much needed infrastructure repairs and updates in Mississippi.

If fully enacted, the lottery is expected to be operational by 2019.
