Police warning of scam involving phone calls imitating the IRS

Local police are warning of a phone scam from unknown individuals imitating IRS officials.

From the Prentiss county sheriffs office:

We have received several calls this week concerning a scam that is going around. The caller identifies themselves as IRS agents and that they’re attempting to collect unpaid taxes. They very often become threatening and use intimidation tactics to solicit vital information such as Social Security numbers, date of Birth or bank account information.

Beware this is a SCAM do not fall victim to them. Simply hang up on them and if they continue to call, don’t answer!
