Shooting reported near church in Alcorn County, multiple agencies searching for shooter
On Sunday July 21, 2024 The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of CR 157 and Cr 174 near Rock Hill Pentecostal Church. It was reported that a white male had fired shots at a residence on CR 174 near CR 175. The individual then drove through an individual in the areas yard and then wrecked at the above intersection. When the individual was confronted by citizens he exited his vehicle with a rifle and ran away from the area.
The individual was later seen by an officer with the MS Highway Patrol behind a residence on CR 174. The individual then fled North into a wooded area between CR 174 and CR 156.
The ACSD currently has officers with the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, the MS Highway Patrol and the MS Department of Wildlife searching the area. They also have a K9 team and a drone team searching the area.
