Mississippi disaster recovery centers are closing in some counties and opening in others, with the application deadline set for June 10, according to state officials.

Mississippi Department of Transportation said a one-mile stretch of U.S. 98 was designated the Michael Robbins Memorial Highway on May 11. Officials and troopers attended a dedication at Midway Baptist Church in Leakesville, MDOT said.

A statement marking National Peace Officers Memorial Day said Sgt. Kevin Gale Stauffer Jr. is being remembered for his service to the City of Tupelo and that the city is honoring all officers who died in the line of duty.

The office said in a May 15 social media post that the Northeast Mississippi Line of Duty Memorial in Amory on May 7 honored families and agencies of officers who died in the line of duty.
