President Trump approved Gov. Tate Reeves’ request for Individual Assistance after severe winter weather Jan. 23-27, covering 36 counties and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said.

The National Weather Service in Memphis said gusty winds Sunday create a 40% to 69% chance of critical fire weather and urged residents to avoid burning as numerous Mid-South counties remain under burn bans.
