NEMCC opens enrollment for Aerospace Fabrication and Assembly program

Northeast Mississippi Community College is enrolling students in a new Aerospace Fabrication and Assembly program, the college said. The required Intro to Assembly and Fabrication course begins July 6, with additional sessions scheduled throughout the year, NEMCC said.

The college said the introductory course teaches foundational manufacturing skills, including print reading, precision measuring, drilling and countersinking, fastening techniques and assembly of aerospace structures and systems.

After the introductory course, participants may move through remaining modules in any order. Those modules include quality systems and machining; electrical systems integration; hydraulics and pneumatics system integration; and composites fabrication, NEMCC said.

NEMCC said the program is free to participants. Classes are offered at the NEMCC Corinth Campus, with multiple class times available — mornings, afternoons and evenings — on a Monday-through-Thursday schedule.

The college said the program was developed with industry partners and aims to prepare participants for potential employment with companies such as Northrop Grumman in Iuka, Mississippi, and other advanced manufacturing employers. Those interested can register online at https://nemcc.formstack.com/forms/assembly_and_fabrication_program and direct questions to GoodSkills@nemcc.edu, NEMCC said.
