Northeast Mississippi Community College brings VR Anne Frank lesson to Marietta Elementary

Northeast Mississippi Community College said its Northeast Tech Connect Team visited Marietta Elementary School to give eighth-grade English students an immersive virtual reality lesson that placed them in Anne Frank’s hiding place.

The college said Apple CORES members Zakhia Grizzard and Lily Benjamin led the lesson. The NE Apple CORES — Creating Opportunities to Reach and Empower Students — is a student-led team that serves as a technology resource, the college said.

The college said the group worked with Student Activities and the Tech Connect Hub to support the classroom visit. Students used the VR simulation to explore the annex and learn about Frank’s experience in hiding, the college said.

The college described the activity as a meaningful, hands-on learning moment and thanked English teacher Stephanie Breedlove and her classes for the collaboration, the college said.
