Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Multiple Mississippi Counties for Storm Aid
Disaster Survivor Assistance Centers in Mississippi will open today at 8 a.m. for counties affected by disaster declaration DR-4899, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
The centers will operate in Adams, Bolivar, Claiborne, Issaquena, Jefferson, Sharkey, Sunflower, Warren, and Washington counties. Disaster Recovery Centers in Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Leflore, Panola, and Yazoo counties will also remain open, the agency said.
The deadline to apply for assistance is June 10. All centers and assistance locations will close on Saturday, May 23. Officials emphasized that receiving benefits will not impact Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits.
Residents are encouraged to visit centers for aid related to the disaster. The agency provided this reminder as part of ongoing recovery efforts following recent severe weather events in the region.
