Disaster service centers open for Mississippi storm survivors

Disaster service centers are open for survivors of the May 6-7 severe storms and tornadoes in Mississippi, a notice from disaster officials said.

The centers are operating in six locations: Franklin County (new location at Franklin County Public Library, 38 S. 1st Street, Meadville), Lamar County, Lawrence County, Lincoln County (two locations) and Wilkinson County, the notice said.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Centers are closed on Sunday, officials said.

Officials said survivors can get help with their FEMA applications, learn about available state and local resources and speak with U.S. Small Business Administration representatives about disaster loans.
