A juvenile was arrested May 26 in connection with an incident in which two people were struck by projectiles from splat guns at The Mall at Barnes Crossing, the Tupelo Police Department said.

Police said officers were dispatched about 3:30 p.m. May 21 to 1001 Mall Drive after two individuals sustained minor injuries near the food court entrance.

Detectives identified a juvenile suspect during the investigation and took the juvenile into custody following further inquiries, the department said. The juvenile was charged with two counts of simple assault and disturbance of a business.

The Tupelo Police Department said it will not release identifying information because of the ages of those involved. The case will be handled through Lee County Youth Court, the department said.
