Juvenile shot and hospitalized in Tupelo; police identify person of interest
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, at about 10:49 p.m., officers with the Tupelo Police Department responded to the 500 block of North Spring Street for a reported shooting, the department said.
Officers found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and is now in stable condition, the department said.
The incident is under active investigation by the Tupelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Detectives have identified a person of interest and are gathering evidence and conducting interviews, the department said. Because of the ages of those involved and the ongoing investigation, no additional information is being released at this time.
