Mississippi DOT Launches Patriotic Safety Message Contest for America’s 250th Anniversary

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is celebrating the country’s 250th anniversary with a safety-themed contest. From July 1 to 5, selected messages will appear on digital message signs across the state, emphasizing traffic safety amid patriotic festivities.

Participants are invited to submit their best safe driving messages in the comments of a designated social media post by June 15. To be eligible, entries must relate to traffic safety and adhere to specific formatting rules.

Contest rules specify that messages can only have three lines of text, with each line limited to 21 characters, including spaces. Hashtags, phone numbers, websites, symbols, and emojis are not permitted.

The initiative aims to promote safety while honoring America’s history. Winners will see their messages displayed on highway signs during the Fourth of July holiday, showcasing their patriotic and safety commitment, according to MDOT.
