Mississippi highway named in honor of fallen deputy James Clark

Family and friends of Deputy James E. Clark gathered Thursday in Quitman County to dedicate a segment of Highway 322 as the James ‘Jimmy’ Clark Memorial Highway. The stretch runs from the intersection with Black Road and extends east for one mile.

Deputy Clark lost his life serving the community he loved. He was awarded the Medal of Supreme Sacrifice during Police Week in May 2018 on the White House grounds in Washington, D.C., in the presence of President Donald Trump, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Northern District Transportation Commissioner John Caldwell spoke at the ceremony, which was held at Crowder Assembly of God. Members of the Quitman County Sheriff’s Department also attended the event, which was organized to honor Clark’s service and sacrifice.
