Mississippi officials urge evacuation planning as Hurricane Preparedness Week ends
Hurricane Preparedness Week concluded and state transportation officials urged residents to plan evacuation routes, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.
MDOT thanked the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency for including the department in a series of preparedness videos, MDOT said. One video features MDOT Executive Director Brad White, who warned that waiting too long to evacuate can become dangerous, according to MDOT.
MDOT directed residents to plan their hurricane evacuation routes by visiting GoMDOT.com/hurricanes, the department said.
State officials said the videos were part of outreach during Hurricane Preparedness Week to encourage early planning and preparedness ahead of the storm season, MDOT said.
