National Weather Service Warns of Flash Flood Risk Across Mississippi
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood risk for much of Mississippi from Tuesday, June 16, through early Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the agency said.
The NWS said areas could see flash flooding, roads may be flooded or closed, and some structures could be threatened with inundation.
The agency urged residents to “stay weather aware” and to identify alternate routes to destinations in case roads become flooded.
The NWS also reiterated the safety message, “Turn around, don’t drown,” and advised people to avoid driving through flooded roadways, the statement said.
