National Weather Service warns of flash flood threat in Mississippi
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood risk across Mississippi on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, saying parts of the state could receive 2 to 3 inches of rain in less than 3 hours, the agency said.
The NWS said areas could see flash flooding, roads flooded or closed, some structures threatened with inundation and minor river flooding expected.
The agency urged residents to stay weather aware, know where to go if they need to evacuate, identify alternate routes and avoid driving into flooded roadways.
The NWS reiterated the safety message “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” and advised people to monitor local forecasts and alerts for updates, the agency said.
