Slide closes State Route 26 in George County, MDOT says

State Route 26 in George County is closed in both directions because of a slide, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said in a news release.

The closure affects the stretch beginning at State Route 57 and extending 1.5 miles west, MDOT said.

MDOT said the slide resulted from sustained, heavy rainfall and that the roadway will remain closed until repairs are complete.

Drivers were advised to use an alternate route and to check the agency’s website for updates, MDOT said.
