Slight and Marginal Risk Areas Shift as Mid-South Sees Morning Clouds

Forecasters said the Slight and Marginal risk areas for severe weather have shifted, reducing the immediate threat for parts of the Mid-South.

This morning’s showers and extensive cloud cover helped limit storm development across the region, forecasters said.

Forecasters said counties along the southern tier of northern Mississippi remain under watch because any sunshine could destabilize the atmosphere and aid storm development.

They said damaging winds would be the primary concern if a storm becomes severe. Forecasters added a tornado cannot be ruled out, but overall confidence in that outcome is low.
