Slight severe-weather risk for north Mississippi; marginal threat near Memphis

Forecasters said there is a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather this afternoon and evening, mainly across north Mississippi.

They said a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) covers areas along I-40, the Memphis metro and stretches along the Mississippi River south of Memphis.

The stronger storms will be capable of producing damaging winds, including microbursts, and localized heavy downpours, forecasters said.
