Mississippi State’s 30-year NFL Draft drought at receiver ends
Brennen Thompson was selected in the NFL Draft on Saturday, ending a 30-year stretch without a Mississippi State wide receiver chosen, commentators Brian Hadad and Carlo Barone said.
Hadad and Barone described Thompson as “college football’s fastest man,” and said his selection could have broader implications for the program.
The commentators said Thompson’s pick could be the first step toward Mississippi State having more success recruiting pass catchers.
Hadad and Barone discussed the drought and Thompson’s selection in their coverage of the draft, attributing significance to the end of the three-decade span without a drafted receiver from the school.
