Skeletal remains found in abandoned Jackson building, police say

Capitol Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found inside an abandoned building, WJTV reported.

Officers were called to assist the Jackson Fire Department at a scene on Gallatin Street just before 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2026, the station said. Firefighters had extinguished a small fire inside the building, WJTV reported.

WJTV did not provide further details about the remains, the report said. The investigation is ongoing, the station reported.
