Two children found abandoned in Rankin County subdivision

Rankin County deputies responded to the Castlewoods subdivision just after 6:45 p.m. on May 10, 2026, after reports of two children found abandoned near Azalea Court.

According to Investigator Tyler Burnell of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and residents discovered the children in the neighborhood. Authorities have not released details about the children’s ages or the circumstances leading to their abandonment.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the case and has asked anyone with information to come forward. There have been no arrests or charges announced as of now.

Officials have not provided information about whether the children are in protective custody or their current condition.
