Student hospitalized after Columbus school bus crash
One student was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash involving a Columbus Municipal School District bus Monday around 7:20 a.m., the district said.
The district said the wreck occurred at the intersection of Winterset Drive and North Gaywood Avenue. Emergency personnel, including the school district’s police department, responded to the scene.
There were 34 students on the bus at the time, the district said. Emergency personnel from Baptist Golden Triangle examined all pupils, a bus monitor and the bus driver. One student was taken to the hospital for further assessment as a precaution, the district said.
“Parents were notified of the incident. Most students returned to school shortly afterwards,” a release from the school district said. The release added that the front driver’s side of the bus was damaged.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the wreck, the school district said.
