Sixteen students and two adults were injured after a school bus and a Honda collided on Highway 45 in Lowndes County, Miss., on Sept. 15, 2026, WJTV reported.
WJTV, citing troopers, said the crash happened about 3:15 p.m. when a 2025 Honda Civic driven by Michael Kunkle, 27, of Columbus, was traveling east on Artesia Road and collided with a school bus driven by Damon Snead Jr., 44, of Columbus, that was traveling north on Highway 45.
WJTV reported the bus was part of the Lowndes County School District and was carrying 22 students ages 6 to 11. The Mississippi Highway Patrol told WJTV that 16 students sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe; two adults were also injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, WJTV reported.
