Tillotson expected to be named Port Pascagoula director
Charles Tillotson is expected to be named director of Port Pascagoula, pending approval by the Jackson County Port Authority Board of Commissioners later this week, the port said.
Port officials said Port Pascagoula is ranked among the top 25 U.S. ports by total tonnage. The port operates two deep-water harbors and a mix of public and private terminals that handle more than 32 million tons of cargo annually. It features 42-foot-deep channels and weather-protected rail operations, the port said.
Tillotson resigned as executive director of the Louisiana Gateway Port in Plaquemines Parish earlier this year to “pursue new opportunities,” the Louisiana port said in a release. According to that release, he previously was chief commercial officer at Port Manatee in Florida and has held positions with Marine Terminals Corporation, Ports America, Diversified Port Holdings and Carver Companies.
The release said Tillotson is a 10-year U.S. Navy veteran. It also listed his credentials as graduation from the Army Management Staff College, a global logistics specialist certification from the California Maritime Academy, an undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College of California and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
According to the job posting, the Port Pascagoula director would oversee public cargo terminals, channel and waterway management, support private industries within the port and lead economic development through ownership of industrial parks and support facilities. The posting says the director reports to a nine-member board and would be responsible for a staff of 45.
