Aid cuts hamper Uganda’s Ebola preparations

Aid workers in Uganda said cuts to foreign aid are hampering preparations as the Ebola outbreak in the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo threatens to spread.

They said they are watching the outbreak unfold across the border and are doing what they can to prepare for a possible uptick in cases.

Aid workers said reductions in foreign funding have limited the resources available for frontline response and preparedness.

They warned diminished funding could leave frontline responders ill-equipped if the outbreak moves into Uganda. (Image credit: Leonard Musinguzi)
