Thousands of legal immigrants in U.S. lose Medicaid coverage as GOP cuts take effect

Thousands of refugees and other legal immigrants in the U.S. lost Medicaid coverage on Oct. 1, The Hill reported.

The Hill said the losses came as the Medicaid cuts in the GOP’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” took effect, making those people among the first significant casualties of the change.

States and advocacy groups have been trying to warn immigrants who were previously eligible for Medicaid — such as refugees and asylees — about the change, The Hill reported.
