Allred projected to win Democratic runoff in Texas’ 33rd District

Former Rep. Colin Allred is projected to defeat Rep. Julie Johnson in the Democratic primary runoff for Texas’ newly drawn 33rd Congressional District, Decision Desk HQ reported.

Decision Desk HQ made the projection after votes were counted in the runoff between the two Democrats.

Johnson succeeded Allred in the seat after the previous election, according to election records. Allred vacated the seat to run against Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and lost in 2024, official results show.

The projected result sets Allred to be the Democratic nominee for the district in the upcoming general election, pending any final certification of the runoff, Decision Desk HQ said.
