Body camera shows Sunny Hostin urging leniency after son cited for trespassing

Body camera video obtained by Fox News Digital shows “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin identifying herself as a former federal prosecutor as officers cited her son for trespassing at the New Rochelle Metro-North station on June 16, Fox News Digital reported.

The video shows Hostin telling an officer over the phone, “My name is Sunny Hostin and I’m one of the co-hosts of ‘The View’ and I’m a former federal prosecutor,” and later telling officers that her son, Gabriel Hostin, “is a Harvard graduate. He doesn’t have a criminal record,” according to Fox News Digital.

An MTA Police spokesperson told Fox News Digital that officers stopped the 23-year-old shortly before 8 p.m. after observing him on the Metro-North railroad right-of-way near Commerce Drive and running close to an electrified third rail. The spokesperson said officers conducted a criminal background check, issued a summons for trespass and released him because he cooperated and had no criminal history.

Charging documents obtained by Fox News Digital allege officers observed Gabriel Hostin in the active railroad right-of-way in violation of posted “NO TRESPASSING” signs. The records include photographs of warning signs and a gated access point, and court records show he is scheduled to appear in New Rochelle City Court on July 31, Fox News Digital reported.

In a letter obtained by TMZ, Hostin said her son mistakenly entered the property while jogging after seeing what appeared to be a gravel incline suitable for hill training, and that an entrance gate was open and a “No Trespassing” sign was not visible when he entered. Conservative social media accounts, including Libs of TikTok and End Wokeness, posted criticisms contrasting Hostin’s remarks to officers with her past comments about equal treatment under the law, Fox News Digital reported. Fox News Digital said it reached out to Hostin’s representatives for comment.
