Democrats criticize Trump for lifting sanctions allowing 300,000 tons of Russian diesel

President Trump on Oct. 10, 2026, lifted U.S. sanctions on Russian oil, a move that will permit Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government to supply 300,000 tons of diesel to the United States and the global marketplace, The Hill reported.

Democratic lawmakers pushed back Friday, The Hill reported, criticizing the decision amid global fuel shortages occurring during U.S. military operations against Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Hill’s report said the measure would allow the diesel shipments; the report did not provide further details on timing, delivery schedules or any congressional action in response.
