Hawks trade former No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher to Mavericks

The Atlanta Hawks traded former No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks, OutKick reported Sunday, ending the 21-year-old’s two-season stint with the team.

OutKick reported that Atlanta received Lu Dort from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Oklahoma City secured two second-round picks and Dallas acquired Risacher and guard Ryan Nembhard. The outlet added the deal will not be official until the NBA completes an investigation into the Hawks’ salary-cap conduct.

Risacher was selected first overall in the 2024 NBA draft. The 6-foot-8 wing averaged 12.6 points as a rookie before slipping to 9.6 in his second season and appeared in 142 career games, OutKick reported.

OutKick said a top pick moving after two seasons is rare, noting Risacher joins a short list that includes Markelle Fultz and Pervis Ellison as high selections who were traded early in their careers. The report characterized the Hawks’ decision as an early end to an underwhelming gamble on the top pick.
