Rookie Haynes King plunged in from 5 yards out on the final play to lift the Carolina Panthers to a 33-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the annual Hall of Fame Game, the Panthers said.
King finished with 180 passing yards, two touchdowns and 39 rushing yards, the Panthers said. He threw a 4-yard touchdown to Anthony Tyus III in the opening minute of the fourth quarter and a scoring pass to Ja’Seem Reed in the second quarter, according to the team.
On the other sideline, rookie Carson Beck threw for 188 yards and one touchdown, the Cardinals said. Kedon Slovis later put Arizona back ahead with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Green with just under two minutes remaining, the Cardinals said.
Both teams elected to keep their starters on the sideline, the teams said. The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the Class of 2026 — Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Adam Vinatieri, Larry Fitzgerald and Luke Kuechly — earlier this week, the Hall of Fame said.
