Jack Smith says judges’ distrust hinders Justice Department
Former special counsel Jack Smith said the Justice Department “can’t do its job” because judges distrust prosecutors and warned the United States is facing an “attack on the rule of law” under President Donald Trump, Smith said.
Smith said he is “very concerned” about the integrity of future elections, according to comments attributed to him.
He accused the Trump administration of weaponizing the Department of Justice, Smith said.
Smith served as special counsel and brought charges against Trump following his first term, a role he cited in making his remarks, according to the same account.
