JD Vance: ‘The View’ hosts surprised me with their reactions, says he was treated better than expected
Senator JD Vance was surprised by his treatment during an appearance on ABC’s daytime talk show, ‘The View.’ Vance, who is promoting his spiritual memoir, ‘Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,’ said he expected a more hostile reception but was met with relative civility.
During an interview on ‘Gutfeld!’ on Tuesday, Vance recalled Behar telling him during a commercial break, ‘You know what? You’re, like, pretty good for a Republican.’ He described the comment as a pleasant surprise and better than he had anticipated.
Vance also joked about the tense exchanges with co-hosts, noting that he initially thought Sunny Hostin would call him a racist, but it was actually Whoopi Goldberg who challenged him over allegations related to the Trump administration and Black history exhibits. The senator said expectations were defied during the discussion.
He added that he clashed with hosts over topics like President Donald Trump’s comments on inflation and immigration. Ahead of his appearance, Vance told Fox News Digital he hoped to have constructive conversations, despite being skeptical about the outcome.
Vance emphasized his belief in engaging with others even when disagreements exist, expressing hope that the hosts would meet him halfway during the interview.
