Man pleads not guilty to threatening former Prince Andrew near Sandringham home

Alex Jenkinson, 39, pleaded not guilty Friday to two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour toward former Prince Andrew, Westminster Magistrates’ Court was told.

Prosecutors allege Jenkinson threatened Andrew on Wednesday and another man on Tuesday. The court heard the trial is set for July 29 and that the former duke is expected to give evidence, according to court officials.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the former royal was allegedly yelled at by a masked man while walking his dogs near his Sandringham home. A police statement said officers attended and Jenkinson was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon.

Jenkinson appeared in the hearing remotely from the King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre in Norfolk with his arm in a sling and pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of blood while in custody, the court heard. He was released on bail with conditions that bar him from entering Norfolk, prohibit contact with Andrew and require him to stay 500 metres from Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral Castle, Windsor Castle and Highgrove.

The case comes after a string of controversies involving the former Duke of York, whose royal titles were removed last year by King Charles III amid fallout from his links to Jeffrey Epstein, according to earlier reports. Andrew has denied allegations of sexual misconduct, but settled a civil lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre in 2022; Giuffre later died in 2025, according to previous reporting. Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
