Ocasio-Cortez urges break up of big tech, says firms seek ‘totally unchecked power’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said large technology companies want “totally unchecked power” and should be split up, she said in an interview with Fox News posted Sunday.
“The problem that we have is that these big companies, they think they are governments, they want to be governments,” Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said in the interview.
Ocasio-Cortez urged action to address what she described as concentrated corporate power in the tech sector. She called for splitting up large companies to curb their influence, according to the interview clip.
The remarks were posted Sunday on Fox News’ platform. Ocasio-Cortez has frequently criticized major technology firms, the interview said.
