Patrick Clancy said he held his infant son, Callan, as the baby died at Boston Children’s Hospital and described ongoing online attacks and his forgiveness of his ex-wife after a mistrial in the killings of their three children, Fox News reported.
Fox News reported that Clancy made the remarks in his first television interview with CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” which aired after the trial ended in a mistrial.
Clancy told the program he initially clung to hope that Callan might survive after his two older children, 5-year-old Cora and 3-year-old Dawson, were found dead at the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Doctors restored the baby’s heartbeat, and Clancy said Callan’s heart continued beating for four days.
He described rushing to Boston Children’s Hospital, beginning to imagine raising Callan alone and praying for one survivor: “Just give me one. Just give me one kid,” he told the interviewer. Clancy said he apologized to his son, lay down beside him and that Callan “died in my arms.”
Clancy said he wrote tributes to all three children while at the hospital and that he chose to forgive his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, though she never asked for forgiveness. He told the program he feared being consumed by anger if he did not forgive her.
According to Fox News, Clancy said Lindsay described the killings as dreamlike. The network reported that at trial her attorneys argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible, while prosecutors maintained she knew what she was doing.
Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial Sept. 4 after jurors split 11-1, with 11 favoring a finding that Lindsay Clancy was not criminally responsible and one juror holding out for a conviction, Fox News reported. Prosecutors have not announced whether they will seek a new trial.
Fox News reported Clancy has since moved to New York City, where he said he could grieve without being recognized; he visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral on what would have been Callan’s first birthday. The network said Clancy met Dr. Rachel Danis in January 2024 through a New York running club and married her in New York City in April 2026.
Fox News also reported that Clancy told the program the mistrial unleashed a wave of online theories and accusations that he said are harming his children’s legacy. He told “60 Minutes” he sought answers from Postpartum Support International, psychiatrists and other experts as he processes the losses.
