Stockbridge Mayor Jayden Williams, 23, removed after alleged misuse of city funds and conduct with 18-year-old
The Stockbridge City Council removed Mayor Jayden Williams, 23, from office, the City of Stockbridge said in a statement, Fox News reported.
Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Williams was accused of using a city purchasing card for more than $4,000 in personal expenses, including restaurant meals, clothing, haircuts and a movie, and of spending about $2,600 on gas. The outlet also reported the mayor used a city vehicle for personal purposes and that city workers noticed unusual transactions and notified management and the city’s legal team.
According to Fox 5, Williams testified that he did not intend to use city funds, later repaid the money, and said the city-issued card looked similar to his personal card. He told the outlet he replaced the cards to avoid future confusion.
Fox 5 Atlanta also reported that Williams was accused of exchanging sexually suggestive messages and explicit images with an 18-year-old male high school student. A police report cited by Fox 5 said no criminal violations occurred because the student was legally an adult under Georgia law, but police referred the matter for administrative review over potential policy and ethical concerns involving an elected official’s interactions with a student in what investigators described as a city-affiliated mentorship program.
Williams told Fox 5 he met the individual on Nov. 30, 2025, that their online communications occurred before he was sworn in, and that the individual was 18 at the time. Williams became the youngest mayor in Georgia history after campaigning while attending Clark Atlanta University and took office in January 2026. The city stripped him of certain official privileges on July 17, 2026, as the investigation unfolded, and he was never criminally charged in connection with the alleged conduct, Fox News reported.
