U.N. Adds Israeli, Russian Forces to Sexual-Violence Blacklist
The United Nations has added Israeli and Russian security forces to its annual blacklist documenting sexual violence during conflict for the first time, the U.N. said Friday.
The report released Friday lists 77 government and non-government parties that the United Nations says are “credibly suspected” of patterns of rape or other forms of sexual violence, according to the report.
The U.N. said the inclusion of Israeli and Russian forces on the list marks a first for both. The report also includes allegations of rape against detained Palestinians, the U.N. said.
The annual list is intended to document allegations of sexual violence in conflict, the U.N. report said. The organization released the findings as part of its ongoing efforts to track and report such abuses, the report stated.
