FBC Ripley Men Start Beds for Kids Ministry
Men from First Baptist Church in Ripley have started a new ministry to help children who don’t have a bed of their own. On the night of Thursday, Nov. 5, a group of FBC men went to Beds for Kids, the volunteer bed-building ministry, to build beds for children in need, the church said in a Facebook post.
“It’s hard to imagine a child not having a bed, but we are told it is more common than we would care to know,” the church wrote.

The church called the effort a new ministry and thanked Michael Massengill and Chris Taylor for leading it. It also thanked Daniel Alsup for the work he and the Beds for Kids team do. The church shared photos of the men working on the build night. By Saturday morning, the post had drawn more than 150 reactions.
The post didn’t say how many beds the group built or where they’ll go. Tippah News will share more details if the church announces future build nights or ways for others to help.
About Beds for Kids
Beds for Kids is a volunteer ministry based in Tupelo that builds beds for children in North Mississippi. According to the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church, it was started in 2019 by recently retired volunteers. They meet during the week at a warehouse owned by Tupelo First United Methodist Church.
Tupelo First UMC says each child gets a bed, a mattress, bedding, a stuffed animal and a Bible. The ministry says thousands of children have received beds so far. Requests usually come from schools, government agencies and nonprofit groups that learn about a child who needs one.
