Tippah County sports roundup, Oct. 4, 2026: Three volleyball teams advance; BMCU places at Belhaven

Sydney Bates delivered 20 kills as Ripley rallied past North Pontotoc 3–1 Saturday, Oct. 3, joining Pine Grove and Walnut in the next round of the girls volleyball playoffs, according to TippahSports.com.

Three county teams move on

Ripley improved to 16–15 with its third straight victory. Ruthie and Maggie McCafferty combined for 27 kills, Stella Roberts had 15 assists and Anna Hays Cook recorded 13 digs.

Pine Grove swept West Lowndes 25–18, 25–18, 25–8 in Class 1A to improve to 22–11. Walnut swept Leland 3–0 in Class 2A for its 10th consecutive win, moving to 29–4.

Falkner’s season ended with a 25–10, 25–12, 25–11 loss at Tupelo Christian Prep. The Eagles finished 9–17 overall and 7–3 in district play.

Ripley’s next listed opponent is Itawamba Agricultural on Tuesday, Oct. 6, while Walnut faces East Webster that day. Both matches are listed for 6 p.m. Central. Pine Grove’s next listed opponent is West Union, with a date and time not yet posted. Read TippahSports.com’s complete playoff report.

BMCU places at Belhaven

Blue Mountain Christian’s men finished third among nine teams at Saturday’s Belhaven Invitational in Jackson. Read the men’s cross-country report.

Soccer and volleyball results

Thomas University defeated BMCU’s women 1–0 in Saturday’s SSAC soccer match at the TU Soccer Complex in Thomasville, Georgia. Read the women’s soccer report.
