Tippah County sports roundup, Oct. 7, 2026: Walnut reaches 30 wins; three teams advance
Walnut earned its 30th volleyball victory Tuesday, Oct. 6, as the Lady Wildcats, Ripley and Pine Grove all advanced in the playoffs. Blue Mountain Christian’s women’s golf team also finished 11th in Dalton, Georgia.
Three volleyball teams move on
Walnut swept East Webster 3–0 at home to reach the third round of the Class 2A playoffs, improve to 30–4 and extend its winning streak to 11 matches. Before the match, seniors Vivian Brown and Molly Kate Rolison were recognized for reaching 1,500 assists and 1,000 kills, respectively.
Ripley defeated Itawamba Agricultural 3–1 at home in Class 4A. The Lady Tigers took the first two sets 25–11 and 25–19, dropped the third 25–23, then clinched the match 25–21. Ripley improved to 17–15 with its fourth straight victory.
Pine Grove swept West Union 3–0 at home in Class 1A, raising its record to 23–11 with a third consecutive win. Both Pine Grove and Walnut have won all six sets they have played in this postseason.
All three play again Thursday, Oct. 8. Ripley hosts New Albany at 6 p.m., Pine Grove travels to Ingomar, and Walnut faces Myrtle. Read TippahSports.com’s complete playoff report.
