Seniors across Tippah County are invited to the Tippah County Hospital Senior Day, a free community health fair set for Friday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fred & Elizabeth Smith Sportsplex Building in Ripley. The hospital announced the event on its official Facebook page, promising health information, flu shots, a free barbecue lunch, live music and door prizes.
The hospital is sponsoring the event, billed on its flyer as the 2026 Senior Day Community Health Fair for Senior Citizens. In its post, Tippah County Hospital described the gathering as a fun and informative day celebrating the seniors in the community.
What to Expect at Tippah County Hospital Senior Day
According to the hospital, more than 25 community vendors will be on hand to share information about health-related services available to older adults in the area. The two-hour event is set up so visitors can move from table to table, ask questions and pick up resources in one place.
Doors open: 11 a.m., when visitors can begin meeting with vendors
Flu shots: available during the event
Free barbecue plates: served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Door prizes: drawings begin at 12:30 p.m.
Live entertainment: local band MissOsippi
Date, Time and Location
Senior Day runs from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026. It will be held at the Fred & Elizabeth Smith Sportsplex Building in Ripley, the same complex that hosts many of the city’s community events.
Because lunch is served only until 12:30 p.m. and the door prize drawings start at that time, seniors and caregivers who want to take part in everything may want to arrive early.
Flu Season Timing
The event comes as flu season begins. Health officials generally recommend that adults get a flu vaccine in the fall, ideally by the end of October, and older adults are among those at higher risk of serious complications from the flu. Seniors who plan to get a shot at the event may want to bring their insurance or Medicare card. Anyone with questions about the vaccine should check with their doctor or with hospital staff at the event.
The health fair also gives families a chance to learn what services are available close to home, from health care and wellness programs to other community resources for older residents and the people who care for them.
