Tippah County sports roundup, Sept. 23, 2026: BMCU soccer wins; Nordstrom earns SSAC honor
Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s soccer team beat Central Baptist 2-1 Tuesday at The Summit. The university also received a conference golf honor and finished sixth in a women’s tournament.
Toppers hold on in men’s soccer
Dipanda Silva Jr. scored in the 25th minute with assists from Davi Vieira and Guilherme Aguiar. Santiago Estebanez doubled the lead at 66:51, and the Toppers held on after Central Baptist’s Mackenzie Vincent scored in the 87th minute. Nordstrom receives conference golf honor
The Southern States Athletic Conference named Blue Mountain Christian’s Alex Nordstrom its men’s golfer of the week after he won the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational. Nordstrom shot 199 over three rounds (70, 65 and 64), 12 under par, and helped the No. 16 Toppers finish second in a 15-team field. Read Myers’ Tippah County Sports report.
BMCU women finish sixth at Carey Collegiate
Blue Mountain Christian’s women placed sixth at the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg. Ansley Pratt led the Toppers in 18th place with a three-round 237. Erin Porter, competing individually, shot 244, including a second-round 77. Read Myers’ Tippah County Sports report.
