Escaped Pig Causes Chaos Across Multiple Towns
The City of Belmont had it’s Bear Creek Festival yesterday, and I’d been seeing posts about “Seymore the Pig.”
Listen, I promise that I am an educated woman, but I genuinely saw the following post and thought that Seymore the Pig was some kind of promotional character associated with the Bear Creek Festival. A mascot, if you will. I had a fairly busy day and didn’t look into it further…
Until this morning, where I saw that Seymore the Pig had gone all the way to Red Bay, Alabama – which is 12 miles away from Belmont – for a visit and realized that this was a real escaped pig that had the masses of Northeast Mississippi and Northwest Alabama up in a roar trying to catch him.
Apparently this rascal had been causing chaos for days before the festival! Word is, he will be the Grand Marshal for the Belmont Christmas Parade instead of going to prison where he may or may not belong for his shenanigans.
The City of Red Bay is apparently glad to have him. No word yet on if he will Grand Marshal their Christmas Parade, as well, or if he will stick around for the city’s Founder’s Fest in a couple of weeks.
There were several attempts at catching him before he skipped town, which all failed. Seymore the pig is happy being a free pig, and isn’t going to be lured in or fooled easily.
All jokes aside, the City of Belmont has called in a pig catching expert that has previously had contact with this meanace (I say that lovingly) of a pig and urges people to not chase or feed him so that he can be safely apprehended and returned home to prepare for his upcoming press conferences that are bound to come after his new found fame.
