BMCU held a chapel service Thursday to mark the anniversary of Sept. 11, the university said. Dr. Shawn Parker, executive director-treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, delivered the message.
Parker outlined three “towers of truth” he said stand unshakable: submissive faith, which he described as doing what God calls a person to do because without obedience faith is shallow; a sure hope, which he said is not wishful thinking but an unrealized reality in God; and a supernatural love, which he said is loving those who do not love us.
Parker told the congregation, “Whenever the towers of human hands fall, the towers of God’s truth stand tall!” BMCU said the message resonated with attendees.
The university said it was grateful for Parker’s presence and for a message that it said “truly touched hearts.” BMCU said it hopes the campus will continue to remember Sept. 11 and choose to love one another.
